STUDENT TV

In April 2010, on the fifth anniversary of the launch of the most popular Internet video service YouTube, the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar started its own Internet TV called Studentski TV (Student TV). Bearing witness to McLuhan's famous statement that the world is a global village and that it could be controlled from "uncle Tom's cabin", the Internet TV of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was officially put into operation from a local restaurant "Zigi" in Kiseljak. This was the closest place with an Internet connection to the venue where classes were held at the Affiliated Department of Journalism in Kiseljak; the Internet connection was, along with a laptop, the only condition for Internet TV to start broadcasting.

Today, Student TV of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences covers the general work of the Faculty and its students, whilst simultaneously developing the responsibility of spoken public statement and exchanging educational experiences with other faculties. In such a way, the students of journalism conduct their journalistic practice, which is the final goal of this project. The interest of journalism students for the practical work and involvement in this project is very high. Television reports and news are broadcast and twice a year the central news show Student objective is broadcast as well. The Internet TV of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences records thousands of views from around the region and the entire world, and statistical data are available to the public through the YouTube analytics service. The service is free for all viewers and by registering for free, the viewers become direct subscribers. One subscriber was even registered on the faraway island of Madagascar.
