Study programme objectives: |
Objectives related to professional competences: - to enable the acquisition of basic knowledge from different branches of European archaeology: prehistory, antiquity, the Middle Ages and the early modern age. - the correct application of acquired theoretical knowledge. - to enable students to master the basic skills and techniques of practical field, research and museum work. - to train students to perform auxiliary museum, technical, and field work. - to encourage the development of communication and presentation skills and writing skills. - to train students to continue their education at the home institution's graduate study programme, or at related study programmes at other institutions. |
Study programme competencies: |
1. Acquisition of basic knowledge from different branches of European archaeology (prehistory, antiquity, middle ages, early modern age). 2. Recognition and application of professional terminology. 3. Recognition of important determinants, social and cultural development of various prehistoric and historical periods in the wider European area, with emphasis on the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding countries - cultural region. 4. Acquisition of knowledge about the key natural, spatial and cultural determinants of different archaeological sites from different prehistoric and historical periods. 5. Distinguishing and recognizing different archaeological material sources based on their a priori typological-stylistic attributes and features. 6. Adoption and application of basic communication and presentation skills. 7. Application of professional and scientific literature, and adoption of scientific methodology and scientific writing skills. 8. Acquisition of practical knowledge and skills necessary for performing auxiliary technical work in the framework of archaeological excavations. 9. Acquisition of knowledge of laws and regulations in the sphere of preservation, protection and research of archaeological heritage. |
Study programme learning outcomes: |
Learning outcomes related to teaching competencies in combination with another double-major study programme : - uses elements of the grammatical system of a foreign language in communication situations (SUMZAB-IU-1) - applies standard language norms at all levels in order to improve communication skills in a professional environment, with special emphasis on the educational system (SUMZAB-IU-2) -explains the basic elements of the education system (SUMZAB-IU-3) |

Possibilities of continuing related studies in the 2nd cycle.
Possibility of employment: After completing the Archaeology undergraduate study programme, students have acquired the knowledge and skills to perform auxiliary museum and technical work in various public and private scientific-research and cultural institutions, state administration, etc., as well as in all other state and legal institutions in the fields of culture, science, media or tourism that express a need for experts of this profile. |
