The Psychology Study Programme

 

The Department of Psychology offers single-major undergraduate and graduate study programmes, which requires full-time enrolment (state-funded or self-financing).

 

Undergraduate study programme (6 semesters – 180 ECTS)

The undergraduate single-major Psychology study programme provides students with core knowledge in the field of psychology. The knowledge that students gain in this programme can help them continue studying psychology or other related study programmes.

Upon completion of the undergraduate single-major Psychology study programme, students will be able to:

  • define and interpret basic psychological processes on a phenomenological, physiological, theoretical, and methodological level;
  • apply research methodology knowledge to solve scientific problems;
  • apply appropriate statistical procedures in the preparation and implementation of     empirical research;
  • critically interpret and analyse scientific and professional literature;
  • use knowledge from a specific area of applied psychology (e.g. social psychology) in everyday life;
  • apply language skills related to psychology in professional communication.

Upon completion of the undergraduate Psychology study programme the student acquires the academic title Bachelor of Psychology.

 

Graduate study programme (4 semesters – 120 ECTS)

            The single-major graduate Psychology study programme trains students to be able to work as individual professional psychologists or for postgraduate studies. During their studies, students gain research and expert psychology skills.

            Upon completion of the graduate single-major Psychology study programme, students will be able to:

  • independently plan and implement psychological research, projects or programmes;
  • analyse data by using complex statistical procedures;
  • use knowledge from the applied psychology areas (e.g. industrial, clinical or school        psychology)
  • critically evaluate different influences on psychological functioning;
  • develop professional and academic knowledge, skills and abilities, independence and responsibility.

Upon completion of the single-major graduate Psychology study programme the student will acquire the academic title Master of Psychology.

            Master of Psychology will be able to work as psychologists. There are different options for working as a psychologist in many different aspects of society: education (preschool, elementary and high school education; as assistants in higher education institutions), social care, health, industry, marketing, human resources, police etc.
